Paper Mill Playhouse

FEATURED PROJECT CLUE GIFT SHOP PANELS

BACKSTORY My manager asked me to create panels that we’d use as the backdrop in the gift shop during the production of Clue at Paper Mill.

THE PROCESS

The gift shop manager sent me set images of each of the rooms. He wanted a panel representative of each room. The images were thumbnail size so it was difficult to make out the exact pattern. I started researching traditional wallpaper designs and tried identifying terms for the shapes in each.

I took the simple shapes I could make out from the set images and drew up some pattern ideas. The colors would be easy because I would use those in the logo itself.
